About Us

Umow Lai Enginuity, an amalgamation of the Sydney-based practice of Enginuity and Melbourne’s Umow Lai & Associates, integrates the resources, expertise and experience of these two leading building engineering services consultants.

Since its beginning in 1996, as Enginuity Pty Ltd, the practice has achieved its goals of innovative design and engineering excellence through involvement in numerous projects; commercial, office, institutional, educational and health care building projects.

Our Resources

The resources of Umow Lai Enginuity are enhanced by the Melbourne-based Umow Lai & Associates which employs 80 professional engineers and support staff. The Umow Lai Group has undertaken landmark projects for major government, university, research and laboratory, health care and private sector organisations.

 

Our Directors

The directors of the company have a combined experience of some 170 years in the building services industry, and have expertises in all the services disciplines.

In addition to our professional design skills the energetic team at Umow Lai Enginuity assist clients in identifying innovative ways to slash energy costs and to monitor the savings achieved.

Each project is evaluated, and the operating costs for different alternatives determined through our in-house computer simulation software, or by other methods as necessary. Umow Lai Enginuity provides comprehensive capital cost budget inputs to these studies as required and can provide a detailed design that meets those budgets.

Energy Solutions from Umow Lai Enginuity

Umow Lai Enginuity have pioneered some of the modern technologies available for energy efficiency that are in the market today. Examples are intelligent naturally ventilated buildings; low energy lighting and lighting control; co-generation and solar energy systems.

For two years Umow Lai Enginuity provided partner support management to a range of businesses under the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Energy Smart Business Program. We identified projects that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 90,000 Tonnes per annum, saving business approximately $7.8 million per annum.

Fire Engineering from Umow Lai Enginuity

Since initiating early Fire Engineering Solutions for Skygarden Retail, 7 levels of inter connected retail.  Umow Lai Enginuity have completed Fire Engineering for Market City, Poets Corner, 99 Lilyfield Road & Windsor Riverview Shopping Centre.

Umow Lai Enginuity have completed many Fire Safety studies for the Department of Housing, Resitech and the Department of Commerce and are currently Fire Scoping 192 residential dwellings for the Department of Housing / Resitech.
